About me

Hi, i am Patrick Mclean "CRUZ (aka) MAC P", Vocalist, Saxophonist, SongWriter, Producer, Preforming artist & Solo Recording Artist of RnB/Soul, Dance/FunkyHouse and Jazz.

I am a former member of Brit-funk Band Hi-Tension, who enjoyed top 10 & 20 hits in UK charts back in the late 70's. My bands M-Lights played venues such as the "100 Club" in the west-end of London and Hi-Tension was one of the UK pioneers of funk for more than two decades.  I took some timeout after my journey to be with family to pursue a change in career and give time to family life. This part of my life was also challenging but for the most part rewarding, and so i'm feel blessed.

Now I am back to what is truly in my heart; Music! I have never stopped writing and listening to music, and  now I would like to again share my music with you, which includes funk, soul, Motown, contemporary popular music (R&B/Dance) and Jazz compositions.

In 2012 through an old friend of mine, Steve Salvari (one of the Brit funk Pioneers of "Central Line") I had an opportunity to record a single, which culminated in the release of my "debut Single", "Cruising into sunrise/Cruising Hard". This was to be the start of my solo career, and I am truly excited to be back. I have now released my first "EP", and could not resist sharing with you, two tracks from the vault, locked down for more than twenty-five years. These tracks are "Come with me lady" & "Party night" and they are special to me not only because they are vintage, great tracks and unreleased before now, but because of the unity it documented between the bands and band members at the time of recording.

At the drop of a hat the musicians on these tracks came and played their part. They all arrived on a lovely Saturday morning, learned their parts, played their parts, and I closed the door behind me that Saturday evening with the mix of these two tracks laid down at Hallmark studio. (Painless)! Some of the players on these tracks, were from some of the UK's leading R&B/Jazz bands of that time including Ray Carless (RIP) of The "Jazz Warrior", Peter Hinds of "Light of the world" /(Beggar & Co), Lloyd Dwyer of "Second Image", Keeling Lee of "Buzz", and last but not least, players from "Hi-Tension"; the first of the collective of "PIONEERS OF JAZZ FUNK/FUNKJAZZ" who stormed the UK National charts with Hi-Tension's debut hit "Hi-Tension" which peaked at number twelve Our second release "British Hustle" peaked at number five both earning gold discs. I would therefore like to thank all the guys once again.
